Eu iniciarei com o fato de que o ano Goreano deve ser exatamente o mesmo que o ano da Terra. Se isso não fosse verdade, desde que Gor está na mesma órbita planar da Terra ao redor do sol, mais cedo ou mais tarde, Gor se tornaria visível para a Terra. I will begin this with the fact that a Gorean year must be exactly the same as an Earth year. If this were not true, since Gor is in the same planar orbit around the sun as the earth, sooner or later, Gor would become visible to Earth. In fact, from time to time, small adjustments are made to Gor's orbital speed for this very reason.

It has the same plane of orbit and maintains its orbit in such a way as always to keep The Central Fire between it and its planetary sister, our Earth, even though this necessitates occasional adjustments in its speed of revolution."

Em outras páginas eu discuto o ano Goreano desmembrado em dias, semanas, meses e festivais.

Mas ao pensar sobre um dia Goreano, ou mais especificamente, as divisões de um dia Goreano, nós temos um problema.

Leva a mesma quantidade de horas, minutos e segundos da Terra para Gor dar uma volta no sol, assim como a Terra? Ou para colocar de outra maneira, tem um dia Goreano exatamente a mesma duração de tempo de um dia da Terra?

Existem apenas duas referências onde um Ihn (um segundo Goreano) é diretamente relacionado com um segundo da Terra. Uma é onde o Ihn é ligeiramente mais longo que um segundo. E a outra é onde um Ihn é ligeiramente menor que um segundo.

But in thinking about a Gorean day, or more specifically, the divisions of a Gorean day, we have a problem.

Does it take the same amount of Earth hours, minutes and seconds for Gor to revolve from sun up to sun up as Earth? Or to put it another way, is a Gorean day exactly the same length of time as an Earth day?

There are only two references where a Ihn (a Gorean second) is directly related to an Earth second. One is that an Ihn is a little longer than a second. And the other is that an Ihn is slightly less than a second.

The Gorean Ihn, or second, is only a little longer than the Earth second.

Nômades de Gor – Livro 4 – Página 222

O dia Goreano consiste de vinte Ahn; a Ahn Goreana, ou hora, de quarenta Ehn, ou minutos; o Ehn consiste de oitenta Ihn, ou segundos. Um Ihn é levemente menor que um segundo da Terra.

The Gorean day consists of twenty Ahn; the Gorean Ahn, or hour, of forty Ehn, or minutes; the Ehn consists of eighty Ihn, or seconds. An Ihn is slightly less than an Earth second.

Tribos de Gor – Livro 10 – Página 352

Assim, nós somos apresentados a duas possíveis conclusões.

Therefore, we are presented with two possible outcomes.

Teoria 1 – Livro 4

Gor gira em 24 horas da Terra.

A velocidade de revolução dos dois planetas é a mesma.

60 x 60 x 24 = 86.400 segundos em um dia da Terra.

86.400 segundos / 20 / 40 / 80 = 1,35 segundos.

1 Ihn = 1,35 segundos.

Gor rotates in 24 Earth hours.

The revolution speed of the two planets is the same.

60 x 60 x 24 = 86,400 seconds in an Earth day.

86,400 seconds ÷ 20 ÷ 40, ÷ 80 = 1.35 seconds.

1 Ihn = 1.35 seconds.

Teoria 2 – Livro 10

Gor gira em 15,5 horas da Terra.

Nós pegamos o mesmo fator de 0,35 derivado da equação “um pouco maior” e usamos na equação “um pouco menor.”

Em outras palavras, subtraímos 0,35 de um segundo. 1 – 0,35 = 0,65.

0,65 x 60 x 60 x 24 = 56.160 segundos da Terra = 15,5 horas da Terra em um dia Goreano.

1 Ihn = 0,65 segundos.

Se o raciocínio nesta teoria é correto, isso deveria também ser considerado:

O planeta, então, era menor que nossa Terra e,
dado o tamanho aparente do sol, talvez algo mais próximo dele.

The planet, then, was smaller than our earth, and,
given the apparent size of the sun, perhaps somewhat closer to it.

Talvez então, devido ao diâmetro menor, Gor de fato gire mais rápido.

Mas em nenhum lugar da série algo como isso é mencionado.

Seria justificado que uma diferença tão significativa como um dia Goreano durando apenas 15,5 horas da Terra fosse mencionado pelo menos uma vez.

E ainda outra grande diferença entre Gor e Terra é mencionada: gravidade. Essa diferença é mencionada várias vezes. Aqui estão apenas três:

Gor rotates in 15½ Earth hours.

We take the same factor of .35 derived from the 'little longer' equation and use in a 'slightly less' equation.

In other words, subtract .35 from one second. 1 - .35 = .65

.65 x 60 x 60 x 24 = 56,160 Earth seconds = 15½ Earth hours in a Gorean day.

1 Ihn = .65 second

In reasoning on which theory is correct, this should also be considered:

Perhaps then, due its smaller diameter, Gor does indeed rotate faster.

But nowhere in the series is anything like this mentioned.

It would only stand to reason that a difference as significant as a Gorean day lasting only 15½ Earth hours would have been mentioned at least once.

And yet another big difference between Gor and Earth is mentioned, gravity. This difference is mentioned several times. Here are just three:

Nômades de Gor – Livro 4 – Página 190

. . . então subitamente alerta para a mudança de gravidade . . .

. . .then suddenly alert to the change of gravity,. . .

Saqueadores de Gor – Livro 9 – Página 164

As luas orbitando Gor e que existem três delas, versus a única orbitando a Terra, é mencionado numerosas vezes.

Eu tenho uma página inteira separada, devotada a esse tópico.A análise final é que de que diferenças maiores como a proximidade do sol, as luas e a gravidade são devidamente notadas. E ainda assim um dia Goreano durando apenas 15,5 horas da Terra sequer é mencionado uma vez.

De fato, isso é definitivamente refutado em Foragido de Gor, página 150, onde se diz:

O dia de trabalho é de quinze Ahn (horas) Goreanas que, possibilitado pela leve diferença
no período de rotação do planeta, seria de aproximadamente dezoito horas da Terra.

E, novamente em Reis Sacerdotes de Gor, página 207:

Era quase a oitava hora Goreana, ou em torno de dez horas da Terra.

Em função da preponderância de evidência, nós podemos apenas tomar que a referência do Livro 10 é meramente uma inconsistência.

E, por causa disso, as comparações de tempo feitas nessas páginas são baseadas na fórmula de 1,35 segundos = 1 Ihn.

The moons orbiting Gor and that there are three of them versus the one orbiting Earth is mentioned numerous times.

I have a whole separate page devoted to this topic.

The final analysis is that the major differences of proximity to the sun, the moons and gravity are duly noted. And yet a Gorean day lasting only 15½ Earth hours is never mentioned once.

In fact it is outright refuted in Outlaw of Gor, page 150, where is says;

The working day is fifteen Gorean Ahn (hours), which, allowing for the slight difference
in the period of the planet's rotation, would be approximately eighteen Earth hours.

And again in Priest-Kings of Gor, page 207;

It was almost eight Gorean Ahn, or about ten Earth hours.

Due to the preponderance of evidence, we can only take that the reference from Book 10 is merely an inconsistency.
